Work experience
A forest biodiversity specialist with 23 years of experience of Ecosystem Classification according to “Composition of the Entire Plant Communities” using Braun-Blanquet method. Took an active role in executing the field work of Sahara-Karagol, Altindere Valley National, and Hatila Vadisi National Parks, and Uzungöl Special Protected Area. Has worked in a grand project entitled “the anti-viral and anti-tumoral effects of endemic plant species of North Eastern Anatolia” supported by the State Development Agency as a plant specialist to identify the plant species across the region. Also took an active role in the project of “Determination of Aromatic and pharmaceutical plants of Gumushane province”. Co-operated a projects about taxonomic and ecologic study on Turkish Sempervivum and Turkish Tragopogon supported by TUBITAK. Also a part of a scientific many projects supported by KTU such as “Plant succession in fire ecology”, “Determining Biodiversity in Species and Ecosystem Levels by the help of Geographic Information Systems”(as manager) and “Ecological Investigations on Turkish Ericaceae Members in Terms of Morphology, Palynology and Anatomy”. An ongoing project supported by IUCN named as “Coordination and Development of Plant Red List Assessment for the Caucasus Biodiversity Hotspot”. _x000D_
Has worked as a biodiversity (flora) consultant in World Bank’s GEF-II Project to incorporate Biodiversity into forest management plans. He has also participated as a consultant in another international project of “Participatory Ecosystem-Based Planning and Management of Ardahan-Yalnizçam Forests, Turkey” under BTC Environment Investment Programme –Habitat Enhancement theme, supported by BTC (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline Project) Co. _x000D_
