Chris MAGERO
Chris MAGERO is currently working as a senior programme officer at IUCN with the Forest and Grassland Programme. Previously, Chris held the position of Important Bird Areas/Key Biodiversity Areas Programme Manager at BirdLife International, a Natural Resource Management Specialist, while working at African Conservation Centre.
Chris is a rangeland management expert with an interest in community-based approaches, drylands, drought, and natural resource economics. His work with IUCN includes Nature-based solutions, steering the Global Rangeland Restoration agenda and mobilizing global actions through partnerships for sustainable rangeland management. His work encompasses the east African Savannas, the Great Green Wall, Eastern Europe, and south American grasslands.
He is an MSc graduate in Rangeland Management (Economics) from the University of Nairobi, in 2011 and has worked in different sectors including Sustainable Finance, Climate Change, Water Resource Management, and Disaster Risk Reduction among others.
