Global Mechanism

Global Mechanism

We support countries in translating the Convention into action and achieving Land Degradation Neutrality at the national level.

Who we are

We are an institution of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

We are based in Bonn, Germany, with a Liaison Office in Rome, Italy, which is hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The Liaison Office aims to promote synergies with the Rome-based United Nations agencies, initiatives, and country representations, for enhanced implementation of the Convention.

How we operate

We provide advisory services, promote partnerships and demonstrate innovations at the country level.

We aspire to be a trusted international partner that translates cutting-edge knowledge into tailored, country-level action.
