Civil society organizations
Civil society organizations (CSOs) play a key role in development as they help provide a picture of on-the-ground realities in different parts of the world.
Increasingly non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and CSOs are engaging and partnering with United Nation’s conventions, programmes and agencies. These partnerships help all stakeholders gain a broader understanding of how and where to make an impact.
CSOs play a significant role at the UNCCD Conference of the Parties (COP). UNCCD currently has more than 600 CSOs accredited with observer status. The accredited CSOs, through their participation in key activities and events, provide valuable contributions to the work of the convention.
The UNCCD CSO panel, created by the Conference of the Parties, aims to facilitate coordination, communication and collaboration among the accredited CSOs.
You can consult the CSO website to find out more about their work and initiatives.
